FROM BREAKFAST TO BLING THE SECRET LIFE OF A CEREAL BOX

We all have those mornings where we’re staring at the back of a cereal box while we eat. But at Funkii Hemp Designs, I see more than just nutritional facts—I see my next favorite piece of jewelry!

I recently took an empty Raisin Bran box and decided to see what kind of magic I could roll up. Here’s a look at how a kitchen staple becomes an artisan bead.

1. The Raw material

It all starts with the cardboard. I love using these boxes because the cardstock is sturdy but flexible, and the colors are always so vibrant. This Raisin Bran box had that deep, royal purple and bright pops of yellow that I knew would look amazing.

2. The Precision Cut

The secret to a great bead is in the triangle! I cut the box into long, tapered strips. This is where the pattern starts to take shape. You can see pieces of the "Sun," the text, and the cereal bowl—all of these will become the "stripes" on the finished bead.

3. The Transformation

After some careful rolling and a little bit of "maker magic," here is the result! Can you believe these came from a cereal box?

The way the colors spiral together creates a unique, striped look that you just can't get with store-bought plastic beads. They are lightweight, eco-friendly, and every single one is a one-of-a-kind original.

> Why I Love Upcycling:

> It’s incredibly satisfying to take something meant for the recycling bin and turn it into wearable art. It’s fun, it’s creative, and it’s one less piece of waste in the world. Plus, it gives my hemp designs a story that starts right in the pantry!
